ACMAD’s Meningitis Early Warning System
Meningitis is a climate-sensitive infectious disease that claims many lives in Africa each year. Most epidemics occur in the Meningitis Belt, which stretches across Sub-Saharan Africa, from Senegal in the west to Ethiopia in the east. Outbreaks are strongly influenced by weather conditions such as temperature, humidity, and dust levels.
